Perfume Button Necklace - 1860's Civil War Era
Perfume Button Necklace - 1860's Civil War Era Authentic 1860’s French perfume button. Perfume buttons have an underlay of fabric with a pierced, ornate overlay. During the Civil war period, the women would dab their oil based perfumes on their fabric buttons. Their buttons were given to loved ones as they went off to war as a reminder of them.
An 1860's abstract perfume button is the focal point on this necklace. Rich brown velvet is peeking through what appears to be a wave. This button was found on it's original store card from Paris. A 1920's mother of pearl button adds to the charm. Exquisite.
