Perfume Button Necklace - 1860's Civil War Era
Authentic 1860’s French perfume button. Perfume buttons have an underlay of fabric with a pierced, ornate overlay. During the Civil war period, the women would dab their oil based perfumes on their fabric buttons. Their buttons were given to loved ones as they went off to war as a reminder of them.
A long stem of flowers are on a pale pink velvet fabric in this beautiful perfume button. A 1920's opalescent mother of pearl button highlights it perfectly. Found on the original card from Paris.
